It’s true! In the upcoming months, Google will be making a transition from Universal Analytics to Google Analytics 4 (GA4). Universal Analytics, which is the type of Google Analytics account used on many websites, will stop processing new hits on July 1, 2023. As of now, Google indicates that you will be able to access the data in your Universal Analytics account until at least January 1, 2024.
There are some differences between the two types of Analytics accounts in reporting and how data is collected. There are also differences between the two accounts in the privacy afforded to web users. In addition, the new Google Analytics 4 account does not allow for automated monthly analytics reports to be sent to your email address.
PMG is here to assist you through this transition. If you have any questions, please reach out to your PMG contact or call us at 631-756-7160.
